As electronic devices get smaller and lighter there is a growing need for high performance, lightweight EMC suppression materials. In order to meet this need, Kitagawa have developed their Smartply EMC suppression material. Below is an overview of the Smartply series:
FFPC Series
The flexible nature of the FFPC Series allows the ferrite material to be fitted around flat cables. Lightweight and thin, with a special sintered finish that prevents the material from breaking or cracking, the flexible flat ferrite is an ideal replacement for flat ferrite cores that are traditionally heavy and fragile.
The thin and flexible nature of the flexible ferrite make the FFPC Series an ideal solution for handheld electronic devices. As there are no sharp edges on the flexible flat ferrite there is no risk of the cable being damaged. Simply bond the two ends of the ferrite material to each other using the adhesive backing. The adhesive backing eliminates the need for connectors to be removed or loosened to retrofit a ferrite.
FFS Series
Our high performance FFS Series acts as a thin and lightweight EMI pad. Compared to standard EMI suppression sheets, the FFS Series offers better insulation properties and performs better at lower frequencies. Available in standard IC sizes, simply attach to the application using the adhesive backing.
FFSX Series
The FFSX profile is a sintered ferrite material with excellent flexibility that enables easy design of custom profiles. Q Factor of the ferrite sheet has been maximised at 13.56MHz. Originally designed for NFC/RFID inside metal enclosures.
If an electronic reader is installed inside a metal frame, the metal acts as an antenna and the reading performance is affected. The FFSX EMC pad guides the electronic field, shields the reader/wire coil and therefore increases the range of the reader.
FFSW Series
Magnetic ferrite sheet suited for use as magnetic shield and improving the performance of wireless charging systems. The FFSW EMI Sheet meets international standards such as Qi.
If there is no guidance between the transmitter and receiver inside a wireless charger, the range is negatively affected, making charging inefficient. Using a Smartply sheet guides the magnetic field, shielding the transmitter/wire coil, thereby increasing the range and minimizing energy lose. This makes the charging process more efficient.
