Cable Shield Jacket – MT Series

MEC would like to introduce their customers to Kitagawa’s new EMI cable shielding sleeve the MT Series. It is a very flexible wire mesh tape made of extremely fine, braided tin-plated copper wires.

The EMI cable shield can easily be wrapped around the cable, or cables can be inserted inside the cable sleeve. The tin plating provides low impedance and resists galvanised corrosion. The copper wires themselves provide excellent conductivity.

Conforms to irregular surfaces and shapes and can be terminated for grounding purposes at the cable ends. In addition to this the cable shielding can be soldered to the application in order to provide permeant grounding.

New EMI Cable Shielding Solutions

MEC would like to introduce their customers to Kitagawa’s new range of EMI cable shielding sleeves. The cable shielding jackets are convenient solutions to protect cables from EMI that may be coming from outside components.

The Kitagawa ECBR-AL cable shielding profile is fitted with a hook and loop fastening mechanism that allows for easy assembly. The ECBR-AL profile can not only be used on installing pre-wired cables, but also allows for additional wires to be placed inside the sleeving. Due to the product structure, it is easy to cut the EMI cable sleeve to length without damaging the taping.

As well as the ECBR-AL series, we can also offer the ECBR-CF series, which is a lighter and more flexible version of the ECBR-AL series. The ECBR-CF cable shield jacket allows for winding across the wire.

Automotive Grade SMD Contact – OG-453239-A

MEC would like to introduce their customers to OG-453239-A, a SMD contact from Kitagawa designed specifically for engine compartment PCBs. The dimple design of the SMD contact enables it to provide sustained noise and static electricity conduction.

Automotive PCB connectors are prone to static electricity. When the OG grounding contact is placed near a connector, it creates a ground connection with the chassis to release static electricity. In addition to this by connecting a GND PCB layer with multiple grounding points on a chassis can also suppress radiation noise.

In addition to issues caused by static electricity, PCB compartments are vulnerable to damage caused by engine vibration. The OG-453239-A onboard contact has a spring structure that is designed to withstand continuous vibration, and has been tested to withstand at least 10 million vibrations. The SMD is also able to continuously operate at its maximum temperature (150C).

Further information on this product can be found on our datasheet. If you require samples or pricing, please do not hesitate to contact our sales team. Further test data, 3D drawings and engineering specs are available upon request.

Introduction to MEC Wireless Charging Coils

The electronics industry is becoming increasingly wireless, resulting in the need for wireless charging units for portable electronic devices such as smartphones. In order to meet these demands MEC have extended our product range and can now offer wireless transmitter coils which assist with powering such devices.

Our wireless charging coils can be fully customised including size, thickness, inductance and DCR in order to meet any Qi or automotive standards.

As well as our standard Qi coil range we also offer a P1 and P2 model. The P2 model utilises a plastic housing unit for the wire coils, allowing the wires to be positioned easier in the final unit. The P2 model not only has the wire housing unit, but also has a shielding housing unit for the charging coil unit itself, thus reducing labour costs. Both of these features are unique to the market.

Another benefit to our charging coils is that we can offer shorter lead times compared to competitors such as Wurth or Vishay. Therefore if you are experiencing any lead time issues we can offer alternative components to these manufacturers.

For further information on this product range please refer to our datasheet or contact our sales team.
